good thing I used the search function, was looking into exactly this thing.

I purchased an additional 40K warranty on this car, wonder if it will be covered.

So the fan controller goes, good to know.

Mine goes on and off, and truly is annoying. I figured it was my high mileage (156K) but it seems to happen to many

My car just started doing this a few days ago, so far it's just sporadically been staying on for around 10 seconds after i shut the car off.

I've got 47,000 miles on the car and I bought it used at around 39,000 miles. Is there any chance I can have the unit replaced free of charge under the recall? Or am I left to buy it myself and replace it?

Only the dealer can answer that. If the car is still under warranty, should be a free fix, if not, you're paying. It's easy enough to swap out and I can't imagine the controller costs too much.

As a general rule, if you're doing electrical work on a car, you disconnect the battery.

I ordered the control unit from AutoCenter.net on March 3rd and it's still listed as Proccessing under my order status.

Has anyone else had this experience with them?

I couldn't find it anywhere. It would be sweet if you can keep us updated on how your order goes with autocenter.net. I need one too

Control module, lancer, w/o turbo for $67.50 right?

Yep, thats what I ordered.

I emailed them to ask what the problem was, no repsonse yet.

I'm worried because I don't like driving around with a messed up radiator fan, I feel like its going to stop working randomly soon and I'll blow a radiator.

^ well, hopefully, mitsu built in a fail save where when the controller completely fails, the fan is on by default. but... who knows. I wonder when my car will have a fan controller hick up. thus far it's still good.

You'll notice when your radiator fan does work, your engine temp will sky rocket. I've replaced my fan controller upwards of I'd say 3-4 times already each time it would just keep the fan on. Also when changing out the fan controller... let the engine cool after you pull the battery cable. That ish gets hot!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the fan controller from?

I'm having trouble finding it and the poster above on this page purchased it from a certain web site but hasn't heard anything back from them.

Thanks in advance!

I just called them today and they said the part just came in today, and it will be going out tomorrow.

I guess it was listed as being in stock when it wasn't. Would have been nice to know that before hand.
