No I kno its part 4 the question was refering to whether it was the first link or 2nd cause one has a label for our 2.4 engine and the other link doesn't specify which engine it goes to unless it doesn't matter

I ened up just buying it from the dealer as I wasn't sure also and really wanted to order it quickly.

I must say, car sounds better and actually idles much smoother...so ya, get the part when you can

Sorry to revive this baby, but as i've been experiencing this problem for awhile i think its time to replace the part.

So im wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do to prevent this part from going bad again? Some sort of shielding? I'd like to go ahead and fix the entire problem before i have to replace the part 3 times like some others.

For informational purposes: problem started at 50k, currently at 60k with no other problems.

apparently the original part was defective but the new one has been fixed, all the people that have replaced it with the new model have not had a problem since AFAIK.

Thats what i was thinking.
I re-read through the posts an i didn't catch anyone saying they had to replace more than one.

Replaced mine maybe 4-5 months ago and it hasn't had any problem since, I was worried that maybe the replacement was just as bad as the one that I replaced but this is good news if its true.

I was referring to those posts, but i suppose an extra $80 every 40k miles (in my case, at least) isn't that big of a deal anyway.
Thanks!

I've had this problem for about 10K mi. so far but nothing too grave has happened--needle is always in the middle of the temp. gauge. I must get it soon though...don't want to push it.

but to clear things up....

site: part 4 (Control Assy)
