Quote: I bought my 04 RA 5speed exactly 1 year and 1 month ago tomorrow w/ about 86000mi on it -now its at 110998mi- and since the day i test drove it the cooling fan kicks on and off every ten seconds on the dot and then kicks on or stays running -depending what it was doing- about ten seconds afer i shut the car off. ive taken it to the dealer 2 times so far for another issue and the writer says hey u runnin hot ot sumn that doesnt sound right...but ive had no problems and its never run hot, in fact the temp gauge stays about 1/4 inch under halfway... im not sure if thats a good thing or not but i beat the snot out of it daily and ive never had a problem...to be honest im not worried about replacing it anytime soon and im savin money to replace those dang leaking front AND rear struts i have first...

PS: I know its not related but does anybody else notice a kind of metallic clank and/or squeaking sometimes over potholes, tight turns or rough surfaces?...im assuming it has to do w/ the leaking struts and/or mounts...maybe even the sway bar links...(they're all oe after all)

Now my temperature is around where yours is at. But I have aftermarket headers and they're wrapped. Definatly was above the little thermostat symbol >_< But when its under halfway I think thats where it is normally.

Also I used to hear that noise...Right when I bought it the next day for about a month it did it, but it hasn't returned after a year...so I don't really know what to tell you, but for me it happened on the left side haha.

guys I also experience that, when I switch off the engine the the fan stays on for 5 secs. and not only that, when I switch on the key the fan turns on before the engine starts, the weird thing is that the car is very cold because I did'nt use it for 2 days. Is this also the problem with the fan controller. I need your opinion guys before I buy the part. Thanks!

Yeah this has been a problem in our cars, the fan controller is in a place where its exposed to heat so it prematurely fails in some of the cars. Good luck!

My 04 RA just started doing it too around 140k. I actually just ordered one from MitsubishiParts.net for 70$ shipped with a 10% off coupon. The price is well worth not having future problems.

Next thing i know like i hear my engine got louder so i turn my music off and listen. So i turned my car off revved it up a little and realize the fan hasnt came on. And still hasnt.
