Fan constantly running loud
Hey lanzer or anyone that might know...
I replaced my FCM about a month ago and I didn't disconnect my battery first.
Maybe I blew a fuse or something b/c now when I turn on the air (even w/o the actual A/C) my idle RPM's increase by about 500 so it tends to idle up around 1000RPM.
You mentioned a fuse might be blown if you don't disconnect before the install. Could you tell me which fuse that might be?

What position is the vent selector knob at ?
Is it at defogger for the front windshield ?
If so, when you turn on the fan that turns on the AC even though the light will not come on, and once the AC is on you will notice an increase in engine idle speed to accommodate the extra load on the engine.

Choose a different setting and the AC will not turn on, without the AC button being pressed.
The AC coming on when you select the defogger is design intent. Combined with forcing the fresh air setting ( you cannot choose recirculate with the defogger) it dries the air and prevents moisture build up hence no condensation on the windshield.

I learn something new every day
I just found this post and have been having the same issues which I thought was just me but apparently not! BUT anyway I will order the part but I'm curious if any of you are into systems because since it's started happening my voltage will be at 14.2 then bang 13.4 then up when it goes off etc that's what made me notice the fan and the fact that it would run after the cars off..
This is a person with a mazda 6 fan control module issue.. Granted it doesn't sound the same it mimics the issues so I figured I'd put it up here! I just ordered mine I might take before and after video

A beast that's hot like fire and needs a little extra cooling lol. Ive been waiting for mine to go out with so much abuse mine received before I got it and it seems that time has finally come this last week or so. good thing I had a spare laying here!
Yea I just thought it was the weather or something then I found this thread my mechanic was like don't replace it it's working fine if it's not over heating and some cars have it where the fan goes off after you shut the car.. I was like brain dead my cars 10 years old it's not learning new things all the sudden then I found that video and it confirmed my fears but it isn't the end of the world I guess could be worse!
