Sunroof service?

My sunroof has been squealing lately. Also every so often when trying to close it, it stops closing, then reopens. I'm guessing this is because it's feeling resistance and thinking there's something in the way. I figure I just need to make sure everything is clean and apply some grease in there, but I don't know where to start. I've found this how-to, but it's for Evos and for fixing their motor, not for what I'm trying to do.

Some basic question...
Am I even guessing in the right direction as to how to fix this?

What grease do I use?

Where does the grease go?

Might I be able to do this without taking everything apart?

Is there anything I might be overlooking?

Thanks

I checked the service manual and there's no service points for lubrication. The only part that I would think would need any lubrication would be the rails and I would use white lithium grease.

If that doesn't help, you might have to remove your headliner and inspect everything.

+ 1 for white lithium grease on the rails. Make sure and clean them first, then put the grease on the rails. Open and close the roof a few times and should be good.
If not, then you have other issues.

Get it checked. Mine was messing up like that and a dumb *** friend opened it in the rain one time. Sure enough we couldn't get it closed back. My interior looked faded out for so long from where it got really wet.

Thanks, I'll look into the lithium grease later this week.

What was your resolution for the sunroof, or do you still have this problem?

So, I've got a friend that will let me have his white lithium grease, but he says it's spray on. Is that okay or should I go for something thicker?

They sell it in solid form too...I have a toothpaste-like tube of it. Bought it for my lawnmower

yep, comes in both spray and toothpaste tube.
**Warning: do not confuse with toothpaste. That makes for a terrible start to the day.**

The motor or something in mine was bad. I had to take it in and get it serviced but luckily my insurance paid for it. Don't remember how I pulled that off actually.

It was the warranty. Insurance paid to fix the AC right after warranty ran out though.
