Or use the OEM filters, which come with the gasket pre-lubed.

He was talking about 4+ liters and 1 liter is roughly equal to 1 quart.

My car doesn't exactly burn much oil; only once did I notice in an oil change that I burned or lost a full quart of oil. What our cars apparently do a lot is break down the oil. Every 2 oil changes I send a sample and each one has come out with the oil having a slightly lower viscosity than normal (I use M-1 10w30 Syn).

M 10W30 is a pretty good oil that if you are getting the EP Mobile,, have you given AMSOIL a try.

is the analysis lab telling you what might be causing,, can you post a graph so we can look at the data ?

Well that's kinda wasting money, dont you think? That's only 4800km. Severe maintenance schedule calls for an oil and filter change every 6000km.

Congratulations I think you are the highest mileage Ralliart in the forum. As long as the oil has been changed regularly during those 182K miles your engine should be pretty clean. Do you burn any oil and are you running dino or synthetic oil? I'd have to assume you do a lot of freeway miles and if that's the case push those intervals out a little longer.

HAHA schweet.
unfortunately i cant take all the credit, i bought it at 164k in may '09. and i think i do about 60/40 (highway/city). and im running synthetic high mileage valvoline max life or the o'reilly brand if im short on cash. and i have no idea how the previous owner was about changing the oil. and i should probably check to see if i burn any oil, too.

and how far between changes should i go?
(i always changed the oil in my '77 dodge monaco and '94 ranger every 3k mi, so i just continued with the RA)

i dont mean to argue, but there is nothing in the manual that states that the oil needs to be changed more frequently after reaching a certain amount of total kilometers on the car.
The corolla i've owned had 350'000km on it, and i changed the oil every 6000km still, never a problem.
