Sticky Acclerator Pedal

I know there's been old thread on this but my symptoms are slightly different. Whenever I'm in traffic or doing stop and go city driving after awhile my gas pedal starts sticking and the rpms idle very high. If I tug on the gas pedal very slightly they drop back to normal. Has anyone ever encountered this and have they fixed it? I have thrown no CEL's that indicate my speed sensor is on it's way out.

This is the part # mr578861 I was able to find as a possible solution but I need to make sure that's the culprit before I drop couple hundred bucks on it

I have not had that issue, I had an issue where my car would go into to limp mode due to the APS.
A sticky throttle is no good, I would replace it asap or take it to mitsu.

You need to figure out what's sticking. It could be the pedal, the cable, or the pedal position sensor.

Definitely what otter said. It happened to me twice, exact same symptoms, and ended up being the cable both times. It was really dirty from driving in windy / dusty conditions (hwy 111).

One of those times it just stayed stuck and I was bouncing off the rev limiter backing out of a parking spot. Had to shut it off immediately.

Please check it out ASAP as it could be very dangerous if it ends up getting stuck at the wrong time.

Can I just clean the cable with some WD40 or something and a brush?

i remember i had my throttle cable stick once on my old lancer...scared the hell out of me lol...more than likely your throttle cable is sticking so you can either try and lube it or replace it...i think it was like 35 bucks or something...
