Still trying to find bolts. The flywheel bolts for a 6/7 bolt motor for the dsm are 21.2mm. Im trying to cross reference flywheel bolts from other mitsu vehicles. Apparently cm and fidanza are known for thicker flywheels. Looking around on other forums, people are using flywheel bolts from other mitsu models.

Edit: Im going to try to stop by my buddys shop monday and look up the specs for the evo and dsm flywheel bolts. Im thinking the thread patter might be the same, the only thing different should be the length. What did everyone else use that has the cm flywheel? I'd really like to use flywheel bolts and not worry about the head being too big, grinding the length down, etc.

If you know what size and pitch you Need metric class 10.9 or standard grade 8 will be strong enough. I just bought oreilly's bolts I keep forgeting check the length but the cm flywheel is at least a quarter inch thicker than stock

I wouldn't replace your CMC unless you end up with a reason to (it starts leaking). While some have had issues with it after upgrading clutches, I think most people (including me) have had no issues with the stock one.

Just a heads up, I looked up the part number for the EVO8 CMC and the ES CMC and OZ-Rally CMC, they have the same part number.

I'm going to say it has to do with the restrictor. As far as I know, both the 2.0L non turbo lancer and the 2.0L turbo evo both don't use a clutch restrictor valve, where as ours does.

After a little searching, this is what i found.

evo 8/9 fw bolts - 15.2 mm
04-07 Lancer - 19.5mm
92-99 7 bolt 4g63 - 21.2mm
89-92 6 bolt 4g63 - 22.5mm

Im willing to try one of these, just not sure which one. Id like to get them before i take my tranny out. So those of you that have the cm flywheel, how short are the stock bolts? Should i try the Lancer fw bolts or the 7 bolt 4g63 bolts? 4mm longer or 5.7mm longer? Id like to find out to help people who dont want to get the cm flywheel because of this and save people down time. Im trying to find if the threads are the same but no luck finding that so far. Maybe someone who works in a parts dept can find out?

pretty sure the fly wheel bolts are M12x1.5x15.5 as Myszkewicz pointed out a few pages back, i put my flywheel on yesterday morning, i did not need to chase the thread on them or i would remember the thread pitch, So if you know the thickness of the flywheel, add the difference to the bolt without going over, you can probably find M12x1.5x20 in class 10.9 somewhere, or just verify the lancer and 7-bolt 4g63 bolts are the same thread pitch, they most likely are...but check to make sure of the thread pitch, cause every other bolt and hole i tapped and died during my rebuild was 1.25 pitch. but they were M10 or smaller and did not have 98 ft-lbs on the them.

I put mine in by hand, but 2 people is very helpful...the easiest way is to have the rear mount already in, angle the block downward slightly toward the driver side with passenger engine mount still on to clear the control housing from the chassis, and support the block with wood or blocks, then when you slide the input shaft into the clutch disc rotate the tranny forward and push it in to clear the rear mount, and then rotate back over the mount and egt someone to put the top 2 bolts in, then put the rear mount bolt through, then you can use a jack to line up the driver side mount.

I was not able to get a torque wrench on the bracket while the transmission was in, and i wanted to make sure nothing came loose, so i torqued the bracket on before installing the transmission, and i was able to properly torque 3 of the 4 bolts on the rear mount, one i was only able to get at it with a standard wrench, without taking the stabilizer bar out.

Is the how-to a post, or is there a procedure in the manual? what pressure plate did you get again? cause i have yet to have any problems with my CMC, but i'm still going to do the swap when i have some free coin, just to be on the safe side.

It's just the act hdg6 the heavy duty plate with th3 six puck spring disc. I found the how too i just wanna see what all i need to be aware of in that stupid small space. I cut my 25 mm long bolts down with a sawzall they wouldn't fit with out they were too long as suspected. A heads up invade you didt get instructions for the flywheel it said remove the back torque plat and keep.the front one. As far as mounts I took all of mine off to drop the tranny (except the one on the passenger side) . It made it easier to put the back and i just pried and jackedthe tranny where i needed it after bolting it up and worked my way from the back around to the front. That about tue only way you can really even mess with the rear mount once the trany is back in
