Magnaflow Axle back exhaust leak
#16
The odd thing is the part after that bend to the resonator looks to be in perfect shape. Only that 2 foot of pipe is rusted out. Any way tomorrow i am going to try and break those bolts free or cut them off and take the rusted out part with the box (muffler) up to a local muffler guy. He said he can weld a new pipe on. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Found hanger on axle-back (one closest to rear strut) had rusted though the piping. Pulled off pipe and left 1in hole in place. Made C shaped patch and welded it over piping. Its not SS, muffler is, but piping was not.
Noticed muffler itself has no more internals. That's going to need replacement too. System (RRM) up close looks like they took OE sections and added in Magnaflow muffler and tip. Going to reuse and just cut out muffler and sub in a new one.

If my memory serves me right that muffler is the 2nd rrm axlebackotter put on there. One exploded some years back but I might be confusing him with someone else. I have had the rrm axleback since 2005 or about 60k no big rust spots or problems so far , knock on wood.
