I see a red fender and I want to paint it black...[lots of pics]
I haven't posted in awhile, I lost my RalliArt mojo for a few months.
As some of you know, I hit a tree with my car a few months ago. Over the past while I have had more time then money. I decided to fix the car myself last week, as budget conscience as possible. (Less than $1000 including parts, tools, paint, labour, etc.)
Facebook album
It is certainly not a professional auto-body repair, it is very much passable and the car is straight as an arrow. The entire car is going to be painted, by me, JD Blitz Black. Which is the same colour as the front rim in the AFTER photo.
For those who don't get the Rolling Stone's classic reference, here's a cover of the song in question. Done by a Canadian band, which is one of my favourites...enjoy, or don't. I don't really care what you think.

Nice work Resurrected! Looks like you did a good job! Now just paint the other panels of the car random colors. lol There was a car at the college I went to that every panel was different and they did it on purpose. It looked like a Buick and a bag of skittles had a baby. haha
I need help...
My signal lights, including hazards are now not working. I suspect a ground...or a flasher, as it's both the hazards and the signals that are not working. They worked prior to my kick-*** fender repair.
Does any one know what is grounded on the inner passenger side fender apron, I tried relocating the grounded wires from that area to the motor mount ground on the frame rail, still no signals.
I have checked all fuses and bulbs.
...(.)(.) and tires man, they will be the death of me!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.
Cranswick the Wise: if you have a schematic, I could use your help. TIA!

On to the turn signals, get a multimeter and use it to trouble shoot the turn signal circuitry. Given that all was well prior to the repair, I'd start in that area, maybe do a continuity test on the wiring that runs by the fender.
Failing that, you could apply power to the bulb directly, and work your way back through the wiring.
Good luck.

There was no damage to the frame, the only damage was to the inner fender apron forward of the strut tower, the upper radiator support, and the fender. I didn't align it as well I would have liked. This car is just going to be a winter car, so I'm not overly concerned.
Thanks.
I used 4 cans of John Deere Blitz Black to do all 4 wheels, and the entire front, 2 coats. I am going to use a gun on the rest of the car.
The eyelids looked like crap when I bought them (used), they needed to be reconditioned.

Looking good. You going to do the whole car black or when you gun it will it be different? I think it looks pretty awesome that color there if it was all the way around.
And nice fill in on the bumper, I noticed it in the "After" pic with the red fender, looks better painted though. Is the rear debadged or are you leaving the badges back there?

Thank you, the filled emblem looks good from far, the thing with this paint is that it will show any flaw to the surface. When I sanded the emblem area it felt really smooth, I used several layers of Bondo, and sanded down to 220, still it looks rippled in places.

The entire car is de-badged (the center caps and steering wheel are the only real indicators that the car is a
), when I bought it there was no emblems on the back.
