stock 4G63 for an Evo 9 makes like 290hp even for a FWD car it won't be too much...an LSD might be in order though... but a little bit of tuning, maybe a bump in boost and you could easily and safely make 290whp which gives you a power:weight of 1:10 which would be awesome that's my goal.

Anyone have a quick answer for this before i start ordering parts? Curious as to the clutch, will i need to mix clutch components or will the RA clutch be fine?

you're using an RA flywheel on a 4G63 bottom end?

From input shaft diameter and spline count the 4G63 flywheel seems incompatible with the RA gearbox.
This is based on specs I have come across on sites like rockauto and some other sites selling parts.
I have not had the privilege of touching one.

Before I got my evo and put the RA on hold, I had started to draft a head swap from a 9 to the g69 block. Seemed to me to be a lot cheaper and easier than the engine swap. Just my .02.

I'm not certain that it's easier, cheaper maybe, just less than worthwhile given the nature of the 2 bottom ends.
Where the 4G63 starts performance the 4G69 ends. You dont just want to say you've done it, you want it to be reliable and durable too.

I see compatible 4G63 engines from $2000 closer to $3000 is the norm, with wiring harness, ECU and engine accessories.

How much less would it be only getting the parts for the head swap ?

i'm with george, if you're going through all that trouble, your best bet is a full engine swap... unless you build the 4g69 block, but after rods and pistons, plus rings bearings and seals, you're probably getting close to the price of a decent mileage 63 anyways...a modestly built 4g69 won't handle much more than a stock 63...

Then with this information do we know if the 69 flywheel bolts to a 63 block? Has anyone compared the flywheels?

they're both a 7-bolt crankshaft, should bolt right up...though i can't speak of spacing for certain, but it should be the same as a 69

would be interesting to see a solid running 4g63 in a ralliart. Im sorry to hear about your car man. That sucks bad. If you get a 4g63 running solid in the ralliart we should go to the track and race sometime.

Such a sad sight seeing your RA sitting there and then me going in and ripping away her intake.

Hopefully she's back sooner than later!
