Future plans for the RA

Ok guys, as some of you may recall Ive vanished for awhile, had plans to build up my DSM and use the RA as a daily. Whelp a coolant line had popped off the RA while i was driving home from work one night and my dead brain didn't notice temp gauge and whelp motor seems to have seized. Anyway the dsm had been replaced with a 5.0 gt mustang and now that has been replaced with a 1983 280zx.

So the plans for the RA since it sets there not running pissing me off. Plan to yank the motor, and pending the block is still good rebuild the bottom end, THEN evo 9(maybe 8 if possible to run without mivec with the ra block) cyl head, harness ecu etc etc. I don't want to do a full swap since i don't want to modify the tranny and what not. So come probably march when the car is paid off(yup, broken and still have payments, woo ) the project will begin. So expect to see my return!

Sorry to hear about the mishap ,but it's nice that you'll be coming back. It sounds like you have a good plan of attack, be sure to make a picture heavy thread when you get started. I have a feeling the evo 8-9 head swap is going to start taking off

Most likely, It seems IN THEORY to be much simpler than a full blown motor swap. Should be for some entertaining times.

Yeah but swapping in some aftermarket pistons and at the very least some stock evo 8-9 rods would make it so much more worth all of the work already done

a bored and stroked 4G63 would be better...it's a closed deck block, and has oil squirters...

Why do you say this, especially given that a 4G63 bolts up to our transmission and uses back RA mounts ?

A 4G63 stock bottom end has advantages over a 4G69 for sure, and you posted you would use the 4G63 head, harness, ECU so why not just use that bottom end too ?

Last I heard was belhousing mods were needed to bolt the 63 to our tranny, plus there's always the unique factor.

After looking at pricing on full long blocks I may just go the route of full swap. I'm not looking to get crazy numbers from the car as I will still be limited by fwd. Probably just run a stock EVO motor aside from a couple goodies. I'll keep everyone posted as to which route I go. After this I then have to decide on where to take my zx. Damn hobbies.
