Some guy in the market place was selling RA parts it said selling 04-06 RA parts.
I ordered the axle he had for sale got it yesterday I tried to put it in today and the spindle is to big!!!! I don't get it mabey the 04 model is different than the 05-06 with the direction any idea???? I finally gave up and ordered one from my local part store!!!!! Finally the cars going good took about 2 hours. Should be getting the rest of my parts this week probs gona get my timing belt done at a shop and then I can go on a nice spiritual drive!!!!

I actually would like to, and have been trying for the last 2 years, but never could. Money was an issue last year (worked about 5-6h/week), and time the year before (worked about 60-70h/week).

I hope this year meets right in the middle, so I have some time and some money. This is definitely something I want to do, maybe travel to Shannonville??

BTW just notice you live in sherbrooke im on the south shore still 2 hours apart!!
We need to have a QC RA MEET!
It takes me about 1h30 to reach downtown Mtl, so South shore should be about 1h-1h15. My mom lives in Chambly, I could let you know next time I drop by.

what doesn't fit? that's only half the axle assembly...does the outer spline not fit in the hub? you can just swap it with the lancer outer...the actual shafts i know have a different spline where they meet the CV joints, but i was under the impression the actual splines for the diff and hub were the same...

it's possible but if you're gonna go thru all the trouble...you should've just bought the boot kit in the 1st place...
makes no sense to buy a new axle and swap out an old worn out section just to make it fit...
if i went and bought the whole axle insetad of the boot kit and it didint fit, personally, i'd rather go thru the hassle of returning it for the right one instead of swapping over the old end section to make it fit

it's a matter of principle IMO...not necessarily practicality

My RA saw new struts, springs, timing belt/water pump, clutch, and flywheel in late November/early December (IIRC, its been a long couple months)

I was about to get it back from the body shop today (after my roomie ran it over with her Rav4 not long ago) but alas, I asked if they could reset the beads on my winter tires and they found one the tie rod end (that I did two years ago) and my rear upper control arm bushings are shot.

And they won't let it go until that work is done (as a liability thing). Good thing my friend works for the place so they're just going to charge it to his employee account and I MIGHT get my silver bullet back today... who knows.

I drive an evo X now too and I swear, the RA is starting to look far and far less of a cost effective option, could just be me and the sound of coins falling through my pockets though

Baby just needs more love before I let it go

No, it's a fact. Evo's (and the new RAs) are very costly to maintain. That is why I went with the GTS.

No the spline does not fit in the hub it is a lot thicker then the stock one. I didn't measure it but I would say it is almost a half size bigger. My stock spline was jammed I had to get it out with a torch.

Just found this thread from 2009

1. Are the backing plates what the rear calipers mount to? If not, what part do they mount to?

YES.

2. If I wanted to use Evo knuckles in the front (to use Brembos) what parts would I need to mount them, if they are not strictly bolt-on?

I don't know. Theoretically the Evo spindle should bolt on. However, the Evo has a completely different bearing assembly from the Lancer/Ralliart. So if the spline count/size on the Evo's outer CV is different from the Lancer/Ralliart you won't be able to use it.

3. Are the Evo wheel bearings different than the Lancer? Would using Evo knuckles require bearings and hubs from the Ralliart?

Evo bearings are completely different from the Lancer/Ralliart bearings.
