Big Maintenance ( Estimated Time)
Finally got my timing belt kit also getting my RRM UDP installed will let you guys know how it feels all together!! Unfortunately I don't have the expertize to tackle this task so I brought the car to the shop tonight after work. There going there early tomorrow morning to get started on it and it should be ready around 11am. Cant wait for this to be done so I can take her out for a joyride if there is not to much snow out.. Also going to have to bypass that purge solenoid leak I have that's making my car run ****ty until I can replace the valve.. next week I get my headers/dp to complete my straight pipe exhaust will let you guys know how it sounds cuz right now my flexpipe is coming apart making a nasty raddling noise which is why I got the combo in the first place
My RA saw new struts, springs, timing belt/water pump, clutch, and flywheel in late November/early December (IIRC, its been a long couple months)
I was about to get it back from the body shop today (after my roomie ran it over with her Rav4 not long ago) but alas, I asked if they could reset the beads on my winter tires and they found one the tie rod end (that I did two years ago) and my rear upper control arm bushings are shot.
And they won't let it go until that work is done (as a liability thing). Good thing my friend works for the place so they're just going to charge it to his employee account and I MIGHT get my silver bullet back today... who knows.
I drive an evo X now too and I swear, the RA is starting to look far and far less of a cost effective option, could just be me and the sound of coins falling through my pockets though
Baby just needs more love before I let it go

and Evo X is just a hole other experience in some ways in doesn't even compare to the RA but there's just to much love for this car.
well, that sucks about the axle...was it sold as a lancer (not evo) axle?
i know the evo axle design is the same, with the extra inner shaft and bracket, but the splines and diameters are slightly different but the guts of the CV joints are the same, but the parts that fit the axle shaft itself would need to be reused...
i understand why mix and match isn't ideal, but while you have the part already, if you can't return it, it could probably still work for you...rather than spending even more money after the fact...

So me and my friend Mr. TC went on a little drifting adventure after this was all done and just realized my left cv joint is shot is a lot worse then the other one I had to change!!! Just my luck

Yeah I think my driver side cv is shot too, i hear a creaking noise when turning left and today i had this same jumpy engagement 2x today. This is the first this started though, I'm still on my oem factory original axles. I think more money might go into maintenance than I originally planned this year

that's really the only bad thing about the RA's is their ability to need maintenance/repair at the worst possible time...and after you fix something something else almost instantly pops up to do...(not counting mods)...?
i thought it's been already discussed(may have been in another thread tho..)

mine's 9...i know what you mean...but it does seem like on theese cars stuff just goes "wrong" more often than other cars it seems to me...
about your noise, is it only when driving..?
or at all times when u turn the wheel?
maybe try putting some engine oil or gear oil in the well the strut top nut is...after i put in my struts it groaned and creacked like a mother......but then i put some oil there and never had any noises again(from that cause at least...well it did take 2 times kuzz i only put just a tiny bit of oil)...make sure to fill the well all the way up and then refill after working it in...(it may leak down the strut and look like u just blew it up, but it's ok...nothing a bit of rain driving wont fix to wash off)
works best if you loosen the nut a bit and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times and bounce it up n down w the nut loosened a bit(make sure to get the oil worked in and thru good) then retighten the nut good and recheck for noise......if it still makes noise, at least u just lubes up your strut mounts and bearing
or maybe we just care more, so things that other people don't care about....we do....too much...lol...so we NEED to fix it(as well as mod it more...lol)

It is a lancer axle just not an RA its for the 4g63

How unlucky can someone be I though it would be fun to see if it would look good painting the valve cover bolts in the front red to match the intake. So I took off the 3 valve cover bolts and of course with my luck the one of the left broke while I was screwing it in its pretty deep in there...
