New oil pan?

So how thick is the oil pan? Should I be concerned about this rust? Would it make sense to put a new one in as a preventative?

Looks pretty bad I think cranswicks pan is worse.. I would lightly sand some of the surface off and spray some high quality rust converter.. Not to sure about sanding it though don't want you to make a pin hole or anything

yeah, that's nothing, mine's way worse...

when it starts looking wet then worry, unless you run over a boulder, or a cinder block it it won't just dump the contents of your oil pan all at once, it should be fine for a while...if you have cash to spare it never hurts to do some preventative maintenance...otherwise pay the the bills and keep your eye on it

Do you think it would be okay to sand this down? And put a few coats of Rust-oleum on it?

Added more pictures. Upclose.

I recently replaced my oil pan on my 03 Evo. My factory oil pan was leaking oil thru a rust spot similar to the ones in your pictures.

Did you have to drop the exhaust to slide the old pan out?

Updates. Wire brushed it really good and sanded it down with 80gt paper. Then put about 4 good coats of engine block paint. Hope it holds up.

looks good, i was thinking of doing mine with that spray on bed liner for trucks, or like rocker guard or something, but i was worried about high temperatures affecting the coating...

Yea I was debating getting that too when I was at AutoZone, but none of them seemed to be able to handle the heat.
