hid & drl wont turn off

I just installed my hid in my RA and when I have the light position on "OFF" my hid stay on. I was wondering if there's a way to turn the hid off when I put the switch to "OFF"

I don't think you can turn the lights completely off with factory electrical...

Damn you know a way to work around it? Maybe take out the fuse for the drl?

you can try it, but i'd have to delve into the wiring diagrams to get a better idea of how to go about it...I still haven't figured out a solid, less intrusive method of keeping the fogs on with hi beams using factory switching circuits...

it might be worthwhile to find a wrecked lancer and snag the front ECU so you have a spare...i'm not sure what else that contact may affect..

Well, this is my solution...

*drum roll*

Just unplug your low beam fuses. If you need lights, you have your high beams but I don't suggest doing that because that means you're going to be driving around pissing people off with your high beams on their rear view mirrors.

Just some food for thought. Cheers!

I will try to take a look at the wiring diagrams this week. Hopefully it might be as easy as removing a fuse but you might need to do some soldering.

Yeah that's a genius idea I would give it a try

Let me know what you decide on...

My suggestion is DO NOT bend/solder/tinker with any of the pins/wiring/etc. You wouldn't want to damage a whole relay/circuit just because you don't want DRLs...

Cheers, my friend!

It looks like the DRL is built into the front ecu (A10x) in the engine compartment. I wonder if the 04 Lancer front ecu is a drop-in replacement (just without DRL). That is worth exploring.

Solution 1 (easiest):
If I were to fix DRLs, I would just run a switch from the engine compartment relay box. The switch would be wired in-line with the low-beam fuse to the headlight.
You could use the switch to turn on and off the low beams.

Solution 2 (bit harder):
Get a relay to turn on when you switch on the low-beams from the column lever. Connect the actuating pole of the relay in-line with the low-beam fuse to the headlights. This will allow you to use the column lever instead of having a second switch.

I wish there was a simpler solution such as removing a fuse, but hey, I may have missed something.
