Ashtray LED Bulb
I was tired of paying $5.00ea for those OEM T5 bayonet incandescent bulb in the ashtray that would last only 6 months and wanted to replace it with a long life LED bulb. Locally they wanted $12 for the same LED bulb, so I got on eBay and got a half a dozen for under $1.00 shipped.
You will require to do some modifications since the plastic lens is a bit taller than the regular bulb and the ashtray will not seat properly. I just used a Dremel to cut the plastic lens down to the same height as the OEM bulbs and then polish the lens until it is transparent clear with a buffing wheel on the Dremel.
I got the clear white LED bulbs with this seller here and it took about 3 weeks for them to get here, not complaining since shipping was included and where else can you do a great mod for under $1.00 !

lol...i remember when i replaced my ashtray light...
i bought a replacement bulb at the local auto parts store and it lasted like 2 days...
so i replaced it again, and it lasted about 2 more days...
so then i said screw it...i don't need a light in the ashtray anyway...IMO it's so dim and it's located so far down in the ashtray it's useless if anything is in it anyway...
good deal on the 6 for under a buck tho...hope it works for ya and last longer than a few days..lol

I used the red hvac bulbs cause I ordered extra, for the cigarette lighter ring and the ashtray...they still work as far as I know, I never open the ashtray and nothing goes in there...lol, I should actually start keeping coffee change in there cause the pile of change in my cup holder is glued together with old coffee...

yeah i replaced the one in the lighter ring too...that worked fine till the day i sold it...
but the ashtray one didnt..and after 2 times i didn't care to try it again...
ps: for change, maybe you should start using the door map pocket...it's larger....lol
and no chance of spilled coffee....(untill you start overfilling it and the change flies out everytime you open and close the door or hit a hard bump...lol)
