Do our 14V DRL sockets (1156) require a special type of bulbs?
According to this thread:
I'm a little puzzled now whether normal 1156 bulbs can work on our cars. I was originally think about buying Philips X-tremeVision LED (https://www.amazon.com/Philips-White.../dp/B00HWS7TQG), but a review of it clearly claims:
Personally I don't like buying cheap LEDs from niche brands. I want big brand-name LEDs. So do you guys have any information regarding if the Philips X-tremeVision LED would work or what type of 1156 bulbs is compatible with our cars? Thanks in advance!!
So I did find some other LED 1156 bulbs that might fit our car. Luyed (a small but legitimate company in Shenzhen) makes 12~24V LED bulbs for 1156 sockets and they have several grades:
So based on xevilevox's theory, LEDs might indeed be unfit for our DRL's operating conditions. A quick look-up in PIAA's catalogue shows the bulbs he is talking about are 19227 (https://www.amazon.com/19227-27-Watt...dp/B0002MAIJ4/).
I also searched Osram's catalogue for our Evo X's and the catalogue says Sylvania Zevo 1156 LED is the bulb for our cars (https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-ZEVO...dp/B01CKQP3XA/). So I definitely have some options now. What I don't have is you guys' input.

No it runs regular 1156, I had a set of LEDS gifted to me that burned out very quick but there were cheap, I ran a Nokya hyper yellow 1156 for a year with no problems, then I sold the car
You'll burn DRL sockets with Sylvania Silverstars.....ask me how I know.
If I understand correctly, SilverStar high/low beam bulbs have much lower electrical resistance, drawing very strong currents through the DRL socket which burn it, right?

Eventually I went with Philips Vision LED with the harness polarity re-pinned. The glow is beautiful. I hope they last me a while. Fingers crossed.

Actually I regretted getting Philips LEDs. They are bright and the light pattern is sufficiently good for DRLs, but I researched a little bit more and learned that Philips is not the best company making LEDs. Their stuff is only a tad better than Chinese LEDs. Here:
It is given that dirty electricity is not a problem for exterior car light, but it does show that Philips only cares about making their LEDs as cheaply as possible. I should've gone for Sylvania or Sylvania Zevo LEDs.

One Philips Vision LED went out 2 days ago. I went to dealer yesterday to have a master tech who is especially competent at electronics (Chris at Scarborough Mitsubishi) to diagnose it. He tested both driver and passenger side DRL circuits. The reason the LED went out was because some other guy who is not a mechanic (*ahem*) previously failed to change bulbs gently, which pushed the copper foot contact pin in the socket down, causing bad ground. He firmed all contacts, and pulled the copper foot contact back to position and the bulb works again.
The master tech also informed me that the DRL wiring connector at my driver's side is discoloured and burned, although not to the degree of compromising its structural integrity that necessitates a replacement. Likely one of the 4 failed incandescent bulbs somehow shorted and drew excessive current. He approved me switching to LEDs as the cooler bulbs and less currents make things a lot safer and more reliable.

Can I just cut the wires of the stock socket and resplice them to the other wire that they were not originally connected to, effectively reversing the polarity? I'm about to do this later tonight.
