Thumbs down lancer problems

Was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few problems ive noticed with my 2004 lancer ralli art (2.4l)

for one , im getting terrible fuel mileage . im now at half a tank and have only driven 160 km and thats me babying it !

another problem is the idle , whenever i put the clutch in to start it things are fine , although when i release the clutch the rpms drop very low ! im talking below half of one if that makes sense . causing the car to just about stale but then it saves itself and goes just under 1000 rpm like it should. it causes the same issure when im driving and stales the od time when i throw in the clutch to take a turn for example .. but once the car is completley stopped the rpms are fairly good after it just about stales ? (rpms drop then climb back up )

im not sure if this is a clutch issue or sometype of idle issue but if anyone could help me out that would be great !!

Change sparkplugs. Clean all ground connections. Install new air filter.

Seriously - do these. Report back here after you are done.

Sorry for the lame response - 40 years of experience have failed me again

So you want a "better" answer, eh? ...let me ask God for a clear psychic vision of your car's trouble spots - wait, its coming... its coming...

Got it! You need a new gonkulator!

Wise-***...

rpm problem sounds a bit like the evaporative emissions purge solenoid. the fuel could be a leak...there was a TSB I believe on the upper injector seals (O-rings) I just bought myself the revised set of upper and lower injector seals...I think I'm leaking fuel at the rail, there's some discolouration on the intake manifold runners.

Oxygen sensors could be shot. However that would normally throw a CEL.

Oxygen sensors can be out but working at the bare minimum and not throw a code of that makes any sense? Is there any mods to the car or is it stock? My car does this when I unplug the battery but it's because my aftermarket throttle body and the ecu has to relearn it... These cars feel like they are going to stall when rpms drop to 500-600 rpms, my idle stays at 750 when the ecu learns the throttle body.. 1000rpms is normal when the car is cold and when it's movIng and you put it in nuetral than when you come to a complete stop it drops down... Hope this makes sense
