Clutch problem?
Clutch problem?
Recently I have been having troubles with my clutch. It feels kinda loose/mushy. Thus when I start the car, I can't put it into gear. I am not sure if the problem is my clutch is all used up and needs a replacement or if it is a hydraulic issue(not sure if there is hydraulics involved). One thing that seems to fix it for a bit is that I can push the clutch in couples of times and it kinda gets stiffer so I can put my car into gear.
Furthermore how hard is it to change a clutch. Should I do it myself. I have a limited amount of tools but have training in being a mechanic.
Thanks

First, bleed clutch line. Thoroughly.
Check brake cylinder for fluid leak. If no leak but problem persists, might be internal leak so pressure can't hold, so get a new cylinder. There is an excellent thread in our RA forum from some years ago, with pics, investigating this issue. Search. And (sigh) the link the previous poster provided is not for your car, and don't bother looking up "Civic" - the guys on this forum have posted everything you need to fix your RA.
Make sure transmission fluid is genuine Mitsu or Redline. This affects dog/gear engagement when shifting, big time.
The only time you would replace your clutch is when it is slipping - slip is real obvious to a driver. This doesn't seem to be your problem.
