Cool hello from new RA owner!

Just bought a new RA. So far I'm pretty impressed with it. I have about 1k miles on it now so I can push it a little harder to see what it can do. I've never been a fan of small cars but this thing is changing my mind. I've replaced the stock wheels and tires and upgraded to 215/40/17 tires with ADR Spec R wheels. What a difference in handling! The car feels more stable on the highway and much better in the twisties. I no longer feel like the wind is going to blow me off the road. No other mods yet but that'll change as soon as parts are available. Any suggestions are more than welcome. I'd like to see this thing run with my 87 Grand National! Maybe some day!! Anyway, I'll be watching this forum trying to learn as much as I can about the RA and also passing on anything that I discover from others. By the way, I do turn my own wrenches. Looking forward to working with you guys!

Hey welcome to the board. You put new tires on quick. Last night for the first time I really challenged my car. Without a doubt those tires have to go. What type of tires do you have? Also is the grip that much improved on take off and through second gear?

It's only been about a week since my last post but I'm now up to 3700 miles! Had a pretty good little road trip over about 5 days. Very impressed with this car! Averaged a little over 28mpg running 85-90 mph. The only issue is the gas tank is sooo small. Had to stop too often for gas, about every 280 miles. Also had a run in with a late 90's Chevy full size pickup on the interstate. If nobody here has tried to find the top end in one of these, I can tell you from experience it will do every bit of 130mph! The Chevy got blown away! It even surprised me. The RPM's were almost 5k at that speed but it never felt like it was out of steam. Very impressed! By the way, someone asked about my tires. I'm running Khumo Ecsta 712s. A little noisy but seem to handle better than the stock goodyears.

I just bought a Metallic Gray RA, i'm about 280 miles on it... i guess i shouldn't be pushing the car.. or so i've been told. But what do you guys consider pushing the car and what should and shouldn't be done... Mind you i'm 17 years old.. came from a Ford Taurus SHO with 235 hp in it or something.. I kinda like to toy around with cars.. but this RA is my baby.. Any advice would be well appreciated

For starters,

Wait until you get your 1000 mile oil change before you redline it or floor it out of the pocket. This car can be driven "fun", but just respect its limits as a sporty car and not an all out demon, and you'll be fine.

Welcome, btw....glad to have another member!
