injen cai = goooooood

i must say this CAI is very very good. mountings are perfect, fits very nice no movement at all. and the power gain is definatly noticeable. expecially after the valve timing kicks in. VERY VERY PLEASED!

What's the comparison with Injen CAI and with a SRI as far as performance?

Cai sucks in cold air making your engine cooler. short ram is sucking in the hot air from your engine bay which could actually hurt performance. The cone filter gives you more air flow which is a bonus it just makes a difference whether your sucking in hot or cold air

Not exactly hurt performance, granted it gives you more air flow, but its hot due to being directly open in the engine bay. It wont hurt your car but it also wont give you a great gain. like 1- 2 hp imo. Cold air intakes take air from outside so the air is much cooler than in your engine bay. the colder air makes your car run better and there is something about the way its mixed in your car and how it combusts but i dont remember. Like where im from a CAI is hardly as usefule as a SRI. AZ is hot and the roads are very hot so basically im sucking up the hot air from the road instead of my engine bay. But it does sound nice and it did make a difference in performance. I have time slips as proof. I ran a 17.1 was my fastest time stock, and a 16.7 with my CAI.

Cold air is denser, more air more fuel more power. Short rams are good, but they tend to have problems with heat bog when the car is anywhere but on the highway.

ya the gains on this CAI is very impressive, alot more then i expected, but im sure we all know by now this mivec engine has sooo much potential, just a matter of time before good headers/exhuast (catback) systems come out.. im hoping with cai/header/exhaust/piggyback i can get low 15-high 14. (in az)

I REP 838 is already achieving 15 flat with CAI/exhaust in Cali.

You don't really need a new header, as the stock one is pretty good. Check out RRM's new downpipe, though....that should do the trick quite nicely!

Mike, it's depend how we see it. In Canada, even to change your spoiler is theoritically illegal. Now the problem with modification is either it is safe or not.
Think of it this way…take a small straw and suck hard through it..more pressure needed to get the same volume of air. Take the same breath of air and suck through a Mc Donalds straws..larger volume, shorter time, less power needed to suck that volume through. Futhermore, CAI keeps the air inside air cooler i.e.. Protecting it from the ambient heat around the engine.
