Nothing is worse than having an intake bounce around making noise it's bad enough our suspension already does that.

I've seen a demo set up by C & D (or motortrend, I forget) where they took an acura nsx and fully submerged the intake in a fish tank (the intake was longer and see-through for purposes of the demonstration) and you could see as soon as the filter tried to suck in water, the bypass valve opened and stopped the water from being ingested. A fairly simple device, but amazing when you see it work.
i would go with the rrm, u can make it a short ram intake by jus using the top portion of the piping. I had my cai for about 4 months now and I had no problems with sucking up water and etc. I dont even use those gay bypass valve's they are useless, i mean if you submerge your car into water, that little sponge aint gonna do crap. Its a waste of 50 bucks plus it makes the cold air turn hot so u might even lose performance. But yea go for the rrm, it rains here in VA all the time and it pours, i always drive safely around the water and never hydrolocked my car yet!
yes you would have to cut your intake at some plact to make this work and yes the bypass actually works. Sport Compact Car tested it a couple of years ago and the engine ran fine when the intake filter was submerged in a fish tank full of water. Of course the car bogged right down and almost died, but not one drop of water made it into the engine!
just make sure if u do go and buy a bypass valve, get one made specifically for your intake. I think aem only makes bypass valve's, but i dont think itll fit on the rrm unless u do some cutting like that guy said
