$500 off leaves them with about a 5% margin (in the US), so that's fair anyway -- at least Mitsubishi doesn't puff up their MSRP's too much.

The 5% margin I quoted (after a $500 discount on a Lancer GTS) actually includes all the holdbacks and other kickbacks to dealers, at least according to Consumer Reports.
Seems like a fair margin overall, though $500 not much of a discount, so Mitsubishi's being a bit tough on anyone who likes to feel like they're bargaining hard -- me, I wish they'd just go to fixed pricing and can all the stupidity.
