dealers will rape ur ***..i have an 06 RA i bouguht demo for $28500 cdn with 0% financing for 5 years...i went in yesterday to trade it in for an evo and they said they can only give me 13-16 for my car..$16,000 if i bring it all back to stock...the dealer just sold a 05 RA for $17,000 with 54,000K on it....my car has 48,000K....so the sales dude goes to me..you give us $23,000 down and you can get the evo MR with the areo kit ($5000) and you finance the car for 5 years for $800 a month..if you do the math i end up paying $71,000 for a friggin evo! i couldnt even beleive he offered me a deal like that and i just got up and left!

You have to get details from the stealership on the potential trade. Weigh everything out and see if it is the right move for you. Definitely list the pros and cons. The last thing you want to do is be impulsive. At the end of the day, cars are cars and depreciate really quickly.

yea man, you'll get raped.
- Going Trade In. They'll probably try to take it for 2-3k under trade value for smog, state fees, profit, new tires whatever.
- Go private party, ask a grand or two over private party value, list in the penny saver, papers, auto trader and by the time the Ralliart comes out you might be sitting pretty. Just wait for some sucker to buy your car, and don't feel bad either it's not like this information isn't on the internet for people to research.

yea it does kinda suck pretty bad that the difference between those two cars is so enormous, but ofcourse the ralliart was kind of a hidden secret and its specs hadent been revealed yet so I guess if people knew that the ralliart would have been coming out im sure people would have waited, same thing is happening to my friend he is dying over the fact of trading in his 08 lancer for the ralliart

just a thought: if i was in the states, i would find a decent evo 8 or 9 instead of the 09 ralliart. In my opinion, the VIII and the IX set themselves apart from their little brothers. When it comes to the X, they look like twins with one have been using steroids.... maybe that's just me, please dont take it personal.

This would be a foolish financial move...period. Keep your car for a while, I am sure you like it but now you hear all about this new 09 RA and now you want that and yours isn't cool enough anymore. If that was the case, shoulda, woulda, coulda got an Evo.
At least hold on to the car until the warranty runs out, in what, another 2yrs? By then something else will be out bigger and better and you will want that!

In the end its just money, don't deprive yourself for years for an extra $3000. Those are years that you can't buy back. At the same time, make sure you have realistic expectations and you can still live comfortably with the higher payment. I still juggle this idea around because I like the 4B11T better than the 4B11, but at the same time I kinda want to make the fastest base lancer possible since its more work and not many people will invest huge amounts of money into a regular lancer. (I don't have alot of money, 62% of my monthly income goes to my car, but theres not much else for me to invest in at the time)

i think private sale is the only way to go. I would scope out the dealerships and find out what they are willing to give you. Get your KBB price and hope to sell it somewhere in the middle
