Car and Driver Comparo is out
I just got my Jan 09 C&D ("Dirty speed done dirt cheap")and it was once again not good. RA is last of 7. They liked the trans and the ride and seats. Too little performance for too big a price. "outgunned in its class, expensive"
7 RA
6 John Cooper Works Clubman
5 SI
4 WRX (fastest in test) SEDAN was tested here.
3 Cobalt SS sedan
2 GTI
1 MS3 again
RA numbers 0-60 5.4,
1/4 14.2 @95,
top speed 144 (drag limited),
sound 48dba at idle, 82 full throttle and 76 @70 MPH.
18 MPG.
70-0 brake 177ft..,
.82g
14.8 lb/hp
WRX (SEDAN) 0-60 4.7, amazing acceleration, minimal turbo lag, smooth ride, high refinement

how come all vehicle exempt ralliart is stick.. Everyone knows dual clutch tranny and awd make a slower & heavy machine... We all also know that the Lancer is alot heavier than the rest of them, just try hitting the body panels. The panels r stiffer. you know that SI, MS3 body panels r soo easily dented.. thin metal.. I know because I have an 2005 Mazda3 Gt hatchback, its panel dent to easy.

On pure performance the WRX is 1. When you throw in subjective items it all depends on what you like. Interior quality and exterior styling greatly sway sentiment.
The RA was in the mix, as all but the SI was a turbo car. Too bad Mitsu did not give the RA a manual. Or another 30-40 HP. They were critical of Subie as now the WRX is faster than the STI. Why pay $10k more for an STI they asked. I guess that is the same problem in upping the RA, it would get into Evo territory as far as straight line performance.
My list
1 WRX (sedan, to clear up confusion)
2 RA
3 SS
4 MS3 (hate wagons)
5 Clubman (too expensive)
6 SI
7 GTI (wagon and UGLY)

No, your right.
But you still have a wagon based on the STI.
I would like to have seen the STI in a sedan version.
See how that model would have turned out might have proved interesting for sales competition.
HATCHBACKS VS SEDAN segments.

uh
A sedan AND a 'wagon', dboz.
Your being biased to one model that has 2 platforms.
and to thunderOZ, dboz made a comment on the 09 WRX vs the STI performance numbers.
Making sure i point that out.
The 09 WRX has 2 platforms, a sedan and a wagon, which Dboz hates and yet due to his previous posts on the 09WRX he implied and stated preference alot to a 09WRX wagon.

How am I being biased? You can have the exact same car in two different body styles. I like the sedan and NOT the wagon. Are you saying that since they make a wagon, that makes all WRX's fall into the wagon category?
By the way, I have never had a preference to a WAGON, where did you come up with that?

Look at your original post.
You stated that because the Ms3 and GTI are wagons you hated it.
But on the WRX, to be non-biased you would have included that the WRX comes in a sedan and wagon platform.
But you didn't orginally post it.
Due to the fact that you favor the WRX, you didn't mention that it, too, comes in a wagon.
ANd you can compare the X to the R/A for all i care.
Not going to bother me at all. I could have gotten an X or a R/A.
I chose what i needed.
I said i was merely pointing out how you neglected the fact that your favortism and peeves doesn't include the WRX wagon.
That is all.
Nothing wrong with it, but pointing out the 2 differences in your post.
If we are going to look at numbers and relations, comparison in a non-biased POV.
