front and rear bumpers same as evo?
front and rear bumpers same as evo?
I was just wondering if the front and rear of the ralliart and evo are interchangeable. I thought they weren't due to the wider body and fenders of the evo x. But i came across a thread from malaysian lancer forum where a company has purchased the original c-west bodykit from Japan and are now making copies and fitting it to lancers.

i personally took measurements off of my RA and a X gsr.
evo = wider
i wanted the evo nose and had to confirm to myself that it will never happen.
unless..............you buy front fenders as well !

Complete cosmetic conversion job done in Singapore.Complete frontend conversion

Side profile with Original EvoX Enkei 18" rims

Rear EvoX conversion with diffuser (The RA's twin exhaust will fit with zero modification)

Let me know if you need further information about the technical aspects, it was fun.

Cheers

Wow - that's impressive!
Turned out pretty good - I would have imagined a Frankenstein-looking thing like the typical Honda/"Moshimoto" kits.
Regardless, I can't say I'd want to spend that kind of money to convert a RA. As many have already compared, the price of the two isn't that far apart, and when you add just the cost of front and rear fascias alone, that price jumps up pretty quick, not to mention the set of Enkei's and Advans!

For instance, those Enkei + Advans are being sold off by singapore X owners at a pittance at brand new conditions for as low as US$1k per set. In fact, none of the Xs in singapore are going around on stock rims, that explains the low price of 2nd hands which are floating around with few takers.
The other kits are also not expensive, front and rear end would cost about another US$1.2k inclusive of original fog lamp chrome rings and number plate brackets. But due to the geographical distance,i think it is not feasible to buy from my local sources... so I think maybe I can share the technique used to manufacture the kits and hope that US manufacturers will do the same for markets stateside!
Basically the prototype for the front and rear ends originated from the real EvoX parts. Both the front and rear bumpers are fitted on and with the sides painstakenly sculpted to fit the lancer's narrower fenders... Then this frankentein monster bumper will undergo a second remould. The finished part that comes out from the remould will fit the norrow lancers to the tee while offering a 95% cosmetic likeliness to the real thing.
Just sharing knowledge about the kits, so any brave souls who wanna do custom kits, perhaps the same could be done...
The square fuel cap was also another low cost DIY project which involved no cutting at all. hehe...
Okay, now, why do the singapore owners turn out so mad to do such conversion, I think the answer lies in the price of cars locally.
A authorised distributor-sourced X in singapore will cost about US$100k on the road with tax and insurance, crazy prices I know...
Even grey imports costs about US$70k for base GSR models. So the modification movement is going really strong here...

Again like I said, if anyone needs further clarifications, I will try to answer, just sharing information, no commercial intent at all... cheers.
So my thinking is, maybe you would like to get hold of a complete set of X bumpers first. Involve the expertise of a custom shop, which I reckon are aplenty where you come from? Then a couple of days spent in the shop will allow you to transform the front end... get the parts from your parts dealer locally?
Cheers.
