91 vs 94 Octane

I was wondering the advantages and disadvantages of using either 91 or 94 Octane fuel on our 09 Ralliarts. I'm aware the 94 will give a "power boost" but what else is there to it?

main point is that if you use a lower octane, the chance of detention is greater. That's why in turbo cars you want to run premium.

Depending on the car you will get more timing advance with higher octane fuel which means more power as the revs climb.

How about in terms of fuel economy?

Probably won't gain much in terms of fuel economy (at least any that you will notice)

Interestingly I ran a couple of tanks of Husky 94 through my car and my economy was actually better on the Shell 91.

Just wanted to give a shout out to you and ask what area you are from. I am close to the down town TO area and got my RA in October. Are you liking it? what colour did you get and what do think of the car overall.

You're definitely safe mixing quality grades of gasoline (i.e. anything genuinely premium) -- a gas refinery would have to work really hard at being evil to find an additive for octane that doesn't play nice with everyone else's additives.

Here in Wisconsin it seems to very from 91 or 93 and with ethanol or not. This tank I was pleased with 100% 93 gas(so they claim)... lol

I'm in Canada and use ONLY Shell V*Power 91 in my car and bike. The Sunoco is Ethanol enriched garbage, which had no noticeable gain in performance, but a noticeable reduction in fuel economy.

As far as I know, in Ontario at least, Shell V*Power is the only premium-grade fuel without ethanol.

Nice. Thats the same colour as mine. I got it loaded with the Recaro pkg and GPS. Its everthing I wanted in a car and its got lots 'O' potential to jump the hp ( if you want to ) I put in a drop in KNN filter and there seems to be a bit of a jump in power. The " woosh" is more noticable when I give it some gas.
Glad you are liking the RA. Its a sweet, bad *** ride
