Oil
Hey guys can someone give me some information about this, thanks in advance, I have a 2009 Ralliart. and I need to change the oil again, but this time I want to do it myself, so I got 4qt of (its 4.5 or 4.0?) of Mobil 1 10w-30 . But the filter doesn't seem to fit.. I went to O'Reileys and they are giving me a filter that is too small..They stated that it was the filter for Lancer 2.0, and they showed me one for 2.4L but it was also too small, can someone assist me with this and tell me what filter I need to get please? ( if you can give me the part # ) also is it 4qt or 4.5, I'm sure it is 4.5 but I want a 2nd thought on that..thanks in advance..
thanks dude... also is that the reason why sometimes on the screen it says inspection soon or something like that? is that something i should be worried about or should i have to pay the dealership to do something?
I believe your talking about Periodic inspection light on guage screen, if so its for the 6month/5000 mile oil change monitor built into system, its just a reminder for people to inspect car or change oil

No problem, and here is a chart in MitsubishiMotors website about oil capacity herehttp://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMNA/j...s.do?loc=en-us
Best thing to do if your not sure if its too much or not, after you fully drained it, fill it up with about 3-4 liters, start up the motor, let the oil filter fill up, and then check the level, then top off accordingly..instead of dumping too much and having to drain some out.
in order to avoid confusing "auto parts guys"......
.....when you are shopping for the oil filter say it is for the 2008 evo.
the oil capacity during an oil and filter change will be close to 5 quarts.
i have done my own oil change twice so far. i have not gone over 5 qts.
i put in 4.5 after draining and installing new filter. start and run for about 5 min.
about 10 min. later i check the oil and add to get level up to the "top dot" on the dip-stick.

I guess make sure your turning it the right way, use a oil filter wrench, two kinds, theres one with a metal band that wraps around, or the more expensive one which is like a C clamp plyers with teeth, or since your don't need it the cheapest way, is to punch a screwdriver through it and twist off---> last resort which is the messiest
As far as capacity goes, you have an owner's manual, use it =P
For filters, OEM filters are actually pretty cheap (about $5-$6), and are nice filters. I just order those a 6 or 12 at a time as I need them.
