So there have been 83 failures as reported on NASIOC. Obviously this does not represent all failures but it appears it wasn't a very common problem but was massively overblown.

I read that entire thread and like the four others that link to it on NASIOC...represented something like only 4% of total WRX's sold or something like that in that span of time. Subaru replaced all the motors with failures (including the replacement motors that also subsequently failed).

By weak transmission do you mean catastrophic failure from the factory or it's inability to cope with added power? Because coming from a GTI, let me tell you about a weak twin clutch gearbox (max torque output the DSG is spec'd to handle is 258ft*lbs) Do we have numbers on the number of failures on the TC-SST on the RA?
