TPMS... kind of fail?
TPMS... kind of fail?
Hey all,
Has anyone run into an issue with their tpms being too sensitive? I've gone to the dealership 3 times now over getting a lo wpressure warning. Well they reseated the tire, check it for cracks/pinholes whatever, and they can't find anything. last time it went off they checked the tire pressure, and one tire was 3psi under the rest. Is the normal deviation for the tpms to go off?
and it's going off again as of my drive to work... I'm tired of going there nearly once a week...

You might have a defective sensor, which the dealership should have picked up on. Normally, your sensor shouldn't trip until the tire loses about 25% of its air, which means about 9 psi on our cars.
the most common leak point on these cars, when there is no foreign object puncturing the tire, is the sensor inner sealing ring. it happens all the time and there's a repair kit to resolve the issue 4250B169 is the part number, i believe. it comes with a new inner seal, outer securing nut, valve core, and valve cap
the light will come on when a certain percentage of air is lost, but the less air you run in the tires, the sooner it will come on. we set most cars, here, to 30-35psi in all the tires to compensate for drastic chicago weather fluctuations, and it adds a bit of mpg as well. if you're set at the door placard's recommended 27, or whatever, it will set the light off with 3-5psi drop

*sigh*
this super sucks for timing. I'm super busy all weekend and early next week... getting married on monday!
Obviously, very little time in there I can be without a car. and then Saturday I leave on a 7 day cruise... Oh well, I suppose if it's parked while I'm gone it's not the end of the world
