Hmmm I came to the opposite conclusion.. first they blame it on an air filter... then they blame it on the way he drives... a lot of stress and bs

All of the ones I've seen on the forums, you just need to nudge them and they replace it, and if you're having trouble with your dealer you go to the next.

But you do raise a good point, at what point are they going to make these serviceable? I mean they can't expect us to buy a $8k transmission every time something with the transmission comes up.

My biggest fear is going through the same experience without a warranty. Knowing that you can't just take the car to any transmission shop and have it repaired. Knowing that the cost of a new one is as high as it is. Does anyone know if they have made any design changes with the new trannys in order to fix what we are experiencing with the earlier ones?

All I know from what I have seen from my buddy's 2009 is that the slow down image doesn't show has much on the 2010's. I totally agree that after warranty what are we going to do if something happens...?

I really don't want to pay 10k on a tranny if mine breaks...

It is quite probable that the 2010 Ralliart's sofware has been changed too, but I am not sure.

Man, it would suck if it fails outside the warranty period. Hopefully by then they will allow work to be done on it rather than full replacements that they currently doing.

So far so good. Shifts are smooth and having no problems. I honestly don't know what caused the tranny to fail. Hopefully nothing happens to this transmission...

Mine's being installed now. Mitsubishi actually recomended that I have an aftermarket transmission cooler installed. I recommended that they pay for it, but that didn't get me very far. They also acted like this is the only time that they're going to replace my tranny under warranty, he said that it was being done under "good faith."

I really hope that the new tranny doesn't have any problems, I really don't want to go through this again!

good faith means they will more then likely have you sign a waiver saying that if the tranny goes again it is not under warranty.

GM did this with the SC on my ion redline.

I will sign no such waiver! Mitsubishi describes the car as being designed for "spirited driving," which is exactly how I would describe the way I drive the car. Bottom line, these transmissions are known to fail, and it is not my fault that they are having to replace a $12,000 transmission when I only have 20,000 miles on the car. If they think that I am going to give up my warranty (and the extended warranty I am still paying for) on the most expensive and faulty part of the car, then they have another thing coming!

Has anyone actually been presented with one of these waivers??? This is the first I've heard about it.
