Transmission dead
Last week while pulling out of the park & ride, the car's service engine light came on and the tranny wouldn't shift past 3rd gear. I was headed home after a soccer game @ PGE park in Portland so it was pretty late in the evening. Luckily I was able to drive home while staying under 40mph. The next morning I tried to back out of the garage to see if the trans was still acting up and reverse wouldn't engage.
Long story short, the car is now at the dealership waiting for a new transmission
. Dealerships says it will be about a week for the new trans to get in. Not sure how long to replace since it is the first time they will be doing this. Bought the car new last year in March with 4 miles on the odo. Currently less than 9100 miles on her. Only thing not stock is the K&N drop in.
Initially the dealership said that the Mitsu warranty didn't cover a loaner car so I was without a car for a few days. On Tuesday they got Mitsu to spring for a rental and I picked up the next day. Hopefully I get my car back before the end of the month.

Sorry about your tranny. There are a few people on here that have had tranny failures. I pray everyday that mine doesn't fail, then I pray that if it is going to fail that it fail under warranty.
Wow you're lucky. I betcha if that was here in the great white north they would have told you to pay for it and that the drop in filter had voided the warranty. You Americans are lucky, there's legislation that protects you guys against warranty stupidity like that. That was one of the main reasons I left Subaru, they told me that an aftermarket cat-back voided my drive train warranty. What's up with that?!
Don't worry too much about the transmission failing. There's probably almost every Ralliart owner on here so chances are you're gunna here more crap then on a Buick forum or something.

"European engineering" this and "european engineering" that...
I've owned a few German) vehicles and nothing in them screams well engineered. A lot of things scream "Germans cannot wire a car properly to save their lives" and "the metal for your control arms is made in only one plant in the entire world and cost a lot of money to replace...their special property? The joints fail easily and the arms snap".
But, European car doors close with a quality-sounding thunk! So put that one in the PRO column.

In all truth, the GT-R's BorgWarner tranny issues are the owner's fault. They are using what was clearly not launch control for launch control (as per the owner's manual). Routing 480hp through it on a hard launch (in a mode that was intended to get the vehicle unstuck from mud/gravel) is what caused the trannies to fail.
