WOW now I'm scared!! My dealer just put a tranny on order for my 09 RA. I've got approx 7k miles on my car and have a horrible decel vibration from 50 to 30 in 3rd 4th and 5th gears. I'm not sure if I should be shocked since mitsu put 3 trannys in my 06 GT Eclipse at 8k a pop.

I hope all goes well.................for all of us

I was experiencing the same decel vibration. I'm interested to see if the new tranny will act the same way. I should be getting my car back today, I'll let you know if it continues or not.

If I understand correctly than this happens at slow speeds and is normal. (around 5mph or less) Mine acts the same way.

I'm hoping they fixed these issues with the 2010 RAs. I've been reading about a lot of tranny issues with the 09s lately......

Geez, some people are having problems at low mileage, I'm at 48,000 and still running fine, but now I'm getting nervous. I really abuse my car, I mean my job requires that I drive allot, I get about 2.5 to 3k a month. I use up allot of synthetic.

Got my car back with my new tranny. She's driving like a whole new car!!!! No more hurky jerky shifts while the tranny's still warming up and so far no more decel vibration!!!!! She seems to be shifting quicker, smoother, and it's feeling more precise. Either the new tranny has been revamped quite a bit or my old tranny was faulty from the get go.

Do tranny's have a break in period? I've been gentle so far cause I'm not sure if I should treat it like a new engine.

Yes break it in. I recommend getting the fluid changed at 10k miles on the tranny instead of 30k like recommends. Then after that continue with the 30k recommendation.

I took it easy on mine for the first 1000km after I got it, but same as erics01 the car felt brand new after the new tranny.

^ Actually, Mitsubishi recommends fluid change @ 60K miles for the RA.

Which fluid are you talking about? Aren't there like 4 different types of lubrication fluids(in addition to the engine oil) that need to be changed on our Ralliarts?

I'm talking specifically about the SST fluid.

And yes, recommends you change it every 60k in the Ralliart. I am not risking losing a $10k transmission though. I'm going to change it at 10k, 40k, 70k. But I also track my car.
