Hood Vent Complications?

OK so maybe this is a stupid thread but I thought of asking some of the guys who have had their car for longer: is there any issue with water getting into the engine bay through the hood vents? I would think that water, snow, road salt and so on would not only dirty up the inside but may be bad for electrical components and premature rusting. Let me know what you all think.
Thanks,

-Ralliheart

All the evos have vents and there are no problems with them. The older evo's had the vent right over the exhaust manifold and turbo. The RA has no issue the new hood is better at not allowing as much debris inside. I don't know about better cooling though. I know my engine bay is cleaner than the older evos though.

Even with my old DSM w/ a Vader hood (massive vent on top of turbo/exhaust manifold) I didn't really have any problems with the engine getting dirty. I drove the car in the rain a few times and still only cleaned the engine as I would with the full hood on.

I think with the small opennings on the RA hood, we're fine.

I was amazed how clean the engine bay stays with the hood vents. I had a vented carbon fiber hood on my old Z. I hated how it would get the engine bay dirty so fast. I think our RA hoods are well designed. We should be fine against the elements.

the front vents are have a louvered plate below them to prevent debris from falling down between the plastic louvers on top. The Naca duct isn't full open, it only has a small opening in it to direct cooling air to where it needs to go. Also, the vents are placed strategically so that if anything does manage to fall through it'll fall through to the ground or onto parts that people rarely look at... except the left front vent, which is directly over the intake snorkle

C-West sells rain guards for the 2 lower side slated or louvered vents. Not sure if they work on the stock ones or just the the C-West ones though.

i've taken all the backing plates out from the two fronts and the middle - it's amazing to see how much heat comes out of it! only thing is that it gets a dirty fairly quickly, but eh, im not too fussed...

Ever drive in the rain? Where do you think all the water goes when you're doing 70 on the highway after it goes through the radiator?

sure socal counts. This place has more dust in the air than any other place I've live in the US. You could be a bubble boy and still have dust coming out of your **** living in this environment. Dust builds up eff'in ~quick~ here. Even on cars driven daily, you can get a thick layer of dust built up in under a week... It's very annoying! It's more annoying than living in an area that rains at least once per week.
