It's interesting that people are having this problem. My car is never jerky unless I confuse it and it tries to downshift at the wrong moment. I also don't notice any difference with ASC on or off.

the only time i ever get "jerkiness" in 1st or 2nd is if i'm trying to drive it like it's a torque converter automatic in LA traffic... I.E. always maintain 2" of space between me and the car in front of me, meaning slam on the gas, tap the brake, slam on the gas again, and vice versa w/ 0 coasting time...

because of the jerkiness when driving like the average LA **** head, I drive my RA like it's a manual missing a clutch pedal... always have lots of space in front of me, accelerate slow when i know its pissy traffic out... basically all the stuff you should do to maximize fuel conservation...

I get the opposite result, in traffic if I go slow, make the car crawl 1st gear is very jerky, but if I let the car accelerate a bit 1st is smoother, when going slow I feel like the clutch keeps engaging and disengaging, maybe it's in my head but with asc off the car does feel 1% smoother and alive, but like I said 1% or maybe 2%

Not sure what jerkyness from a stop you guys are talking about either. mine will jerk if I come to a stopsign and take off again too quick. But if I come to a stop sign, stop for say 10 seconds and then go it's butter smooth.

This annoys me a lot especially after having a good meal, my stomach is like in a blender machine. I don't want to stop 10 sec in a stop sign, that just doesn't make sense, other driver will start honking me for sure.

The mechanical differentials and ACD will prevent power disappearing through a spinning wheel.

It annoys the hell out of me I have to hold down that horrible hard plastic button for 5 seconds to disable it. In fact come to thing of it, starting this car is a real pain, it beeps loud as hell in my ear because I start it before putting on my seatbelt. Then it beeps like hell when I lock the door to leave it warm up. Then when I go to drive it, it beeps like hell that the roads are icey. The yellow flashing display for ASC coming on is also distracting in the middle of a corner. Is there a way to disable the beeping? where is the speaker located?
Mine no longer beeps at me .. disconnected the speaker

I've actually been driving around the past couple of days with the ASC off to test your guys theory. Suprisingly shifts are much smoother, even in sport mode. Usually for me in sport mode shifts at low RPMs are pretty stiff and jerky but with the ASC off they were still precise and quick but 9/10 butter smooth.

i think the op was referring to the lag at a light. Turning the asc off reduces the lag at a light significantly.
