lay it across your battery terminals and it will "wake" up your ecu.

Thanks everyone. Where should I buy my openport from Ive heard sketchy things about tactrix themself. And is the GST map pretty much just a base to start from when using the openport or how does that work? I wish there was someone with a ra within a 200 miles radius everyone around me has the X.

I bought mine straight from tactrix. No problems, shipped to Canada in 4 days.

Does the Cobb Stage 2 map give more power than the GTS map? I currently drive Cobb Stage 2 and I get very noticeable power.

Please, accurate answers only.

What mods do u have with the Stage 2? On the website it says the stage 2 map is for stock everything other than turbo back exhaust.

From what I've seen, the Cobb stage 1 and the gst maps are similar in power gains. Not sure about the Cobb stage 2. I'd say that individual differences between vehicles would be greater than the power differences between either tune. The GST flash is cheaper to do, but if you want to get a custom tune done (say if you're adding other mods) more tuners in my area work with the Cobb AP than with ecuflash. I'd check to see if that's the case in your area.

Here's the numbers:

Gains with the GST tune (from the GST Ralliart basemap thread): stock whp is generally near 195, gains with a boost pill and 93oct basemap average about 35whp

Gains with the Cobb AP stage 1 (from Cobb's website): 15.4% on 93 oct, or about 30whp (average).

These are average numbers, and with variables like dyno differences, temp, elevation, etc, and with individual differences between each car, you can't realistically say one is better than the other.

As far as the stage 2 Cobb tune is concerned, I haven't found much data on it. I'll look around.

edit: All I can find on the Stage 2 tune are Ralliarts with other mods (turboback exhaust, etc.) They're up around the 260whp mark, which is a decent gain, about 65 whp. If someone could find out what the gains are on a stock RA with the stage 2 tune, let us know.

So I think I just became the luckiest RA owner. So I live in the middle of nowhere in bk and a mechanic just moved his huge shop behind me. His shop has everything including dyno most importantly. So long story short I worked it out where he shows me how to use the dyno once along I promise not to complain when he paints cause he didn't get his shop certified for painting. I said sure I can deal with my house smelling like paint every once in a while if I get to learn how to tune my car.

So basically I just wanted to know exactly where do I start with tuning. I ordered the tactrix cable and I am most likely gonna get the Cobb ap. Is there any other materials I will need and any reading material for a prospect tuner? Thanks in advance.

Dyno chart on Cobb's website shows an otherwise stock RA with turboback exhaust and HF cat. Gains were 26% over stock HP, 30% over stock TQ. Chart looks to be ~310 AWTQ and ~ 263 AWHP.

The Stage 1/Stage 2 dyno chart is accesible by clicking the link for Stage 1 93.
