Question about 2011 Ralliart

I am new to the Lancer scene, I was hoping that you guys could help me out. Are the 2010 and the 2011 Ralliart pretty much the same? I've been looking at mods for my new car and wanted to find out if the 2010 would work for my 2011? I am looking at exhaust right now, and hoping to get a cold air intake soon. If you guys could let me know I would appreciate it. Thanks.

a cold air intake?

why? this isnt a naturally aspirated car. Do research on what mods are safe to do without tuning the vehicle.

a cold air intake would push more air into the turbo to increase hp and get better gas mileage...

The stock intake on our car isn't much of a choke point, so replacing it shouldn't be a priority. If you do replace it, all aftermarket intakes require a tune.

IMHO, you are better of spending your money on a tactrix cable and a boost pill, and using the free map that Bryan created which is located in the engine section of this forum.

One thing to remember when talking about a car that isn't naturally aspirated is that the intake does not push air into a turbo, the turbo draws air in from the airbox. It draws in only as much air as it's designed to draw at whatever speed it's running at, and our stock airbox is more than capable of supplying airflow to the turbo. A drop-in filter is all that is really needed on a stock tune.
On the other hand, a cold air intake sometimes changes the size of the maf sensor housing, which can in some cases make the engine run lean. A lean condition can cause a check engine light (in the best case scenario) or cause detonation leading to eventual engine damage (worst case scenario). This happens because the amount of air that the maf sensor is reading isn't accurate, and more air is entering the engine than the maf sensor is reading. This has the effect of giving you more hp and better gas mileage, but at the expense of having the engine running lean. Therefore, you should get a tune done if you decide to get a cold air system.

Np. And I agree with jkennedy, actually I did exactly what he's suggesting with the tactrix cable + boost pill (look at my sig). The maps that Bryan posted in the engine thread are free (GST Basemaps), easy to use and will wake up your car. I've been modding for a long time and I've never come across anything like the maps that Bryan is offering. Most of the time, mail-in or downloadable maps are of questionable quality and are usually expensive. I just wish I lived about 4000 kms closer to GST motorsports, cuz they'd have my business for sure.

this is only true when the intake runs properly on the car. With our particular vehicle, the opposite has been proven time and time again.

For example, when my intake was on untouned for the 150 kms trip to the tuner my afr was 13+ @ wide open throttle which is dangerous to say the least. Extended periods of time in said afrs, or anything in the 12's can cause serious damage.

An intercooler and piping will produce alot more power then a cold air, as will a turbo back. At that point, a high flow filter and a cobb stage 2 flash would put you in the 240 whp range. Which is plenty for daily driving.
