I can hear the turbo spool a little louder. Other than that everything is the same.

I understand the benefits of making mods w.o needing a tune on a turboed engine. But the dyno difference between with a tune/w.o a tune would be cool too...

Well, that just does not tell the whole story. Dyno gains with no tune only show gains not WHY gains were made. My point is that many intakes make power by "cheating" the maf sensor so it sees less air at any given rpm / load combination wich simply leans out the airflow and increases the boost a bit on an otherwise stock un-tuned car. Both of those things can be accomplished with a tune and since most of us will be tuned at some point.... that negates the reason for buying an intake.

IMO the only real way to test an intake is with pressure drop data AND dyno test data. I seriously doubt more than 1 or 2 companies even bother to test pressure drop (measure the difference between atmospheric pressure and pressure inside the intake) at various points along the intake path... without this data it is not possible to know what part o f the intake is a restriction and where to focus the efforts... if it is even needed in the first place.

In short if the pressure drop does not improve then the only gains are from messing with afr and or boost... not because the intake "flows" any better than stock.

To be fair, with the AEM intakes on the 4B11T platform, wasn't them tampering with boost an expectation? I mean, really that's how the AEM CAI on the X makes its power, from the threads and tests I've read, not solely by removing restriction.

On the bright side it looks like it replaces that stupid accordion inlet. That's a definite plus for less turbulence in the airflow at least.

really? they managed to make sure the MAF area was good to go? well good on aem i think that makes them the first intake to not need a tune for our car

Thats where the 50 shot of Nawwz comes in! lol

Im not sure what the dip is. Maybe the car is leaning out and pulling timing?
I think the dip is one of those things you get from installing an intake and not tuning it.
Im sure the dip will go away once I get a custom tune.

The factory snorkel is still hooked up and functional so its getting cold air from there. Not sure if this would be classified as a true cold air intake since the filter is still in the engine compartment.

Are they going to provide boost and AFR plots as well?
