Tried to start the car, failed on first try. on the third go around the motor puttered and then started. I here the fuel pump clicking, but that's all I can tell you. This is the second time in 5 days.

Absolutely no mods. 11k miles 09 RA. It may or may not be the battery. I will try to take it to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully I get a simple resolution.

Any input to what it might be would be cool.

PS. Other than this, the car drives perfectly fine. Strong as hell, and no other problems except a single squeaky windshield wiper.

 

do u have the new fuel pump relays?

 

there IS a Mitsu TSB out on that for them to change out the relays for more robust relays. I dunno if you've already read up on it and checked if you have the new relays or not...

the updated relays should be blue... not green...

Also try turning the "key" to the on position and let it sit for a few seconds before cranking it so that the fuel pump has time to build pressure in the lines. I know this method has solved the problem for some other people on this website who have had "hard start" issues.

 

how was it solved? via recall? this has happened to me a handful of times with my 2011 10k mi RA

 

The dealership should be replacing the relay for me tomorrow. if not i will update.

 

Make sure they do all 4. There should be 3 blue ones and 1 gray one. There is also a PCM reflash relating to this problem, so if you're not running a custom tune, then make sure to ask them to check if they need to do the reflash too and have them take care of it all at once.
