Cannot turn ignition switch

Hey guys, i have a bit of a problem that i am hoping someone can help me with. I turned my car off and as i was getting out i turned the steering wheel and it locked when the car shut off. (the delay from when you turn the key off to when the car shuts off is when i turned the wheel and it locked). Now, i cant turn the key on or even to accessory. Its locked! It will come out of the ignition, but thats all. I have tried all the tricks like moving the wheel while turning the key and changing the tilt. Car is in park, so that should not be causing anything. Any ideas at all are appreciated. Thanks for the help.

I have been trying that for a while now. I have had 4 other people here at work try too. No luck. I may have to tow it to mitsu. This isnt the usual key stuck in ignition situation. Thanks though

yeah you don't sound stupid enough for this to be a simple locked wheel issue

tow it to the dealership, hope it's not serious

Did you get the issue taken care of?

Do you have a standard key or the "Fast" key system.

If by FOB you are refering to the FAST key, then i do not have one. My fob is built into my key, all one unit. Thanks though.

Can you try jacking the front to take the load off the wheels and then try turning the wheel? Just a thought. I had to do that to my Sentra once.

I had something like that happen to me once, I think I had turned the car off too quickly or something (the one and only time I've ever done that) and some how it stayed in gear. I even went so far as disconnecting my battery and "draining the charge". In the end, my car was in neutral (don't ask me how it got there), put her back into park, and she started right up. But this different if it stayed in park for you. Did you try and see if you could move it into neutral (I was surprised to find out I could move the shifter, as most new cars "lock the gearing", which can be a real PITA when you need to get into neutral )

Well the dealer said they had to pop off the column cover and release the locking mechanism manually. But they took care of it, no questions asked which was nice for a change.
