Catalytic Converter Problem?

Ok, so ive noticed within 1 week that my car has been getting more vibrations through the cabin.

The exhaust has been getting louder.

I checked for leaks and saw nothing. I got under car and heard chattering coming from the catalytic converter.

I discussed this with my friend and he asked me if i have a loss in power, I have not.

The exhaust seems to be vibrating more and more and getting louder. Not a lot but enough to notice over a week.

Could it be the cataytic converter or I be checking anything else? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you all.

NOTE: I have the UR catback.

Tightened down, as in welding more support to the entire exhaust?

Like add another bracket?

Is it possible for the cat to malfuntion creating the symptoms i mentioned above?

^^Try this. If its the stock cat take look at the heat shield make sure its also tight.May not be inside the cat but between the heatshield and piping causing the vibration. Also take look at the heat shield above the muffler attached to trunk well. Shouldn't have anything to do with the cat but I had some vibration issues when I had the HKS catback on the car. Could hear from inside the cabin very annoying. So I removed it and problem solved.

Tightened down, as in re-tighten the bolts holding the midpipe from the catback to the cat, if that is, in fact, where your noise is coming from.

Like mentioned, check shields too, of course, but if the exhaust noise itself is getting louder (not a metallic vibrating or other noise) you may have a leak somewhere and should be able to identify it as a black, sooty area on the exhaust piping itself, most commonly found around flex pipes (which we don't have) or pipe flange meeting points where the gaskets may have failed

I was under the car this morning checking the bolts and shields ect. Everything is right, but i think a gasket may have failed. There is black on the pipe where the cat and midpip connect.

I will have to buy new gaskets and get that taken care of.

I got under the car again to check the heat shields (cat and muffler). This time i had a good amount of direct light and noticed there is no black sutt anywhere on the exhaust. Therefore there is probably no leak.

I proceded to check the heat shields and noticed the one under the truck, over the muffler, is insanely loose. The bolts were tight, but there was a huge amount of room. The heat shield was vibrating off my trunk.

SOOO i removed the entire shield and vola, the vibrations are very minimal now.

WAS 7/10

NOW 2/10

For future reference check the heat shields
