Not your normal SST sounds
Not your normal SST sounds
Over the weekend, I had Swift Springs and a 22mm Whiteline sway bar installed. Everything seemed fine and dandy, but now I'm hearing a clunk when I shift. I thought it was the exhaust hitting the drive shaft, but took it into an exhaust shop and then adjusted the hangers for me. Definitely removed the sound of the exhaust rattling against something.
But now for the weird noise. I replaced my diff and SST fluid about a month ago, and shifting was smooth as butter. No noises what so ever. But after my springs and sway bar were installed, I get an intermittent clunk while shifting gears. It can be from 1st to 2nd, or any upshift. I least notice it from going from 5th to 6th though. No noises while I downshift.
Any idea what this sound is? I know the diff was dropped to install the sway bar, so that could be it. But other than that, I don't know what else it could be. The sound is very similar to the clunk made when rolling to a stop and then the SST makes that common clunk.

More drivetrain play than before? CV joint at different angle?
Dunno... but if you take it to a good suspension shop, they can put it up on a hoist and swing around like chimpanzees on all the moving bits under your car.
Any clunking should be readily apparent.

It sucks that this week is really busy and I won't be able to get the car into a shop until Friday. Hopefully it's not something too serious. I'll let them know it could be a CV joint, drivetrain/diff issue because of the parts I installed.
