Stalled trying to reverse

Today I turned the car on, put it in D to go forward, turned my steering wheel all the way left, then put it into R to back out, the R was flashing and my car stalled on the spot, this is the first time it ever happened to me, since then it has not happened.

Has anyone ever stalled their car going to D to R before? I know the R flashing is a common occurance but I have never seen an automatic car stall before.

My car has the upgraded fuel relays from SSP, the black ones to be exact, mods are listed in my signature.

My SST has been solid, no problems with my engine either.

Could it be that when it was trying to catch reverse and it stalled? I was not on an incline either.

Thanks for your input.

could be the extra load on the motor from the power steering when you turned all the way and the sst or ecu not giving enough rpms for the motor to continue running once reverse was engaged.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense.

Mine "trys" to stall all the time when going from R to D (the opposite of you). I know what the problem is, but the "easy" fix is to lightly tap the throttle the second I've shifted.

I was in a friends car and it did thus once as well. I think it does have something to do with the power steering because his wheel was all the way over as it happened.

my car is like sstevojr's. It doesn't and hasn't ever (**knocks on wood**) stalled, but the RPMs do regularly drop to about 500 or so when i go from R to D, normally when the car is still warming up.
