Don't know if this has been discussed before but I was wondering if its possible to convert to the electric power steering racks from the fwd lancers. I assume the ralliart and the regular lancers are the same.

 

Just curious, but what would be the purpose?

 

I was thinking one less pump to run, don't have to worry about power steering fluid, lighter weight since there is no pump, hoses, and reservoir. I used to have a RSX-S and the EP3 civic SI's eps steering rack could just bolt-in and wire it up and you'd have electric power steering instead of hydraulic. Just wondering if this could be applied to our cars except evos.

 

Probably cost a lot of $$$ though.

 

No fluid reservoir and one less accessory to drag on the belt, yeah, but as for weight, the module you have to add on the column pretty much negates any weight lost from the pump and lines. That's why I never really pursued it... Lol.

 

Also, in most cases electric power steering just doesn't feel that good.

 

If mitsu does make a next gen ralliart, it'll most likely have eps lol

 

It's hard to say. The rest of the platform is using it, except for the v6 outlander, so idk.
