Do you think the RA is a "sleeper" ?

Some of the early model years did have the gts wing on the evo. Not sure when they added the taller wing.

The Evo X GSR (without any packages), Ralliart, GTS, and ES Sport all had the same wing the first couple years. I think 2010 might have been the last year or the year they stopped, I'm not completely sure on that

Easy. Not saying you should do this cause I would never do such a thing cough cough

However what you do with your car is your choice. When you go through emissions they take a mirror and look under your car for a cat AKA soda can anything that looks like a bubble or canister. If you do not want to swap them out you can do what a friend of mine did cough cough and have the metal cat drilled out. MEANING NO MORE CAT

Yes it is a waste of money to do this because you are destroying a cat but remember in the long run it will save you tons of time as oppose to just changing them back and forth. Guess it depends on your preference . Just my 2 cents

I have WRX guys and VW guys mistake mine for a lancer on a normal basis. WOW what a mistake on their part. I love the Ralliart because it can be very very fast and perform like an EVO in a straight line. However I do wish the Ralliart came with the nice suspension , wide body, and amazing breaks that the Evo does. Of course this is why the EvoMR is so expensive. If you want the SST version you are going to pay the high price for all the wonderful EVO goodies that help the car perform better in the Rally tracks.

The ralliart is a great car. Just wish it was not so limited on what you can do with it because of that crazy transmission

Limited? Many people on this forum claim to have cranked it to 400hp. How much power are you looking to add to this thing anyways? Besides that, there are parts you can buy to make the transmission tougher if you really want to upgrade the **** out of it.

There is no point in spending over 5 k to upgrade a transmission when you can use that money to put towards an Evo or trade in. It is a proven fact the transmission on the Gsr can be treated much more harsh than the ralliart. As far as with the guys out there putting down that kind of power on the SST the tuners even tell them your trans wont last the life of the car.

There is another guy on here who was tuned by COBB with some impressive numbers and he said he was told by COBB to expect the life of his tranny to not last because of how high his numbers are.

The point I am making is yes the SST is limited far more than the EVO. You can do so much more and make crazy numbers with an EVO that you are not able to do with the ralliart.

I love the ralliart don't get me wrong but all I ever do is worry about that damn transmission breaking.

I heard that even the good old standard shifter of the EVO is not high quality enough to take a very big upgrade. It's limits might be less restrictive, but it's not invincible. Sure if you're buying a brand new RA for just a couple thousand less than an EVO GSR, and thinking of upgrading the tranny, buy the EVO. But it's not like the SST is going to blow to bits for 300hp, since the EVO MR has 291hp. I could understand if you went over 400 it would probably make a difference. I only paid 22k$ for my RA versus the 40k$ price of the EVO GSR in Canada (and roughly 33 to 35k used), with about 140k KM on it. So I would be better off buying a couple of parts for the tranny rather than buying an EVO. Not that I am actually planning to upgrade anything more than an air intake, pill, ECU, and exhaust. But with my kind of mileage, the usual internet myth about the SST is that I should have had a failure of some kind. Nope. It even used to have a custom exhaust from hell on it, before I bought it and changed it to stock. Still has the high flow cat on it, which according to my mechanic is a VERY high flow cat, can barely be called a cat anymore.

If you want crazy HP out of any vehicle your going to have to heavily upgrade the transmission. The only difference is the SST is more expensive to upgrade. Besides didn't the GSR's transmission just get recalled not that long ago?

I understand your point but I'm just saying either way your going to spend a ton of money upgrading you Evo or RA
