The schedule maintenance from my dealer is 5000km or 3 months which ever come first.

I think 3 months is too frequent for an oil change. I usually hit 5000km in 4 to 5 moths or longer. Do you guys change oil based on the distance or the time?

Another long term concerns I have is the SST fluid change.
The normal scheduled SST fluid change is on the 50,000km. This imply that the will be change every two and a half year. With my driving habit, I will reach the fluid change service in 3 to 4 year. Would that cause any problem?


How often do you guys change the engine and SST oil?

 

If your car is still under warranty, and you want any chance of using that warranty, you have to follow their schedule. If warranty doesn't matter, use high quality oil and change it at longer intervals. Most recommend changing the SST fluid every 30k miles.

 

If you use a full-synthetic oil I would only change it every 5000 miles regardless of number of months. My Ralliart is not a daily driver, so it takes me almost a full year to put 5000 miles on my car, and therefore I've only been changing my oil about once a year. That said, I do use top-of-the-line Amsoil 10w-30 full-synthetic oil, so I'm not worried that I'm causing any extra wear or damage to my engine by not changing it more often.

 

My dealer told me every 6k miles or 4 months, however; I've been going by miles as I don't drive a lot of miles too work and weekends I put some on, but not a lot as well. If I did a lot of stop and go traffic and ran my car hard I'd probably go by months.

As I have mentioned I will only reach the 30k miles in 3 to 4 years while the normal schedule imply the fluid should be change in 2 and a half year. I know the time would affect the quality of the fluid beside the millage.

 

Yup, I'm in the same boat, I've only got like a little over 12k miles on my car so I'm not even close to that. I think most of it has to do with how hard you drive the car and how often you do. So, if you track it regularly or drive it hard often, you may want to change it more on a regular basis.
I don't track my car and I don't do a lot of hard pulls, so I like to think I'm pretty efficient on the SST. Ya, I drive fast on occasion, but I rarely stomp on the gas peddle for that WOT pull.

 

The owners manual says to change it every 5000km for extreme use and 8000km for regular use. I'm usually around 7000-8000km at an oil change using Mobil 1 full synthetic (for warranty purposes you can only use Mitsubishi oil or Mobil 1). If I was running standard oil I would propbably do closer to 5000-6000km.

As for SST fluid change 48,000km is recommended. So ya basically every 50,000km. But I would suggest replacing the filter as well. You can get a lifetime one for $190 or the German made OEM ones for $35. I feel like it's worth it for my own sanity.
