How often do you change sst oil

Hi all,

As title says how often do you replace your sst oil & filter? Been browsing online and have found all sorts of answers.

Am just wondering whats your interval? Im currently shooting for every 15.5k miles/ 25k kms car is stock and do @ 6k miles a year.

Saw a post that UK ralliarts service theirs at 10k miles wich seems a bit early for me... thoughts?

Like you said there are a lot of different opinions on this. There's probably also some threads that already discuss this in the TC-SST forum so you may want to check there as well.

I believe the USDM manual says 60k miles for normal use and 30k miles for severe use, but most people seem to agree that 60k is way too long. Some also believe that 30k is too long and it should be done closer to every 15k or so (or even more frequently for cars that are tracked or driven hard). I've also seen some posts by experts that say you should do a change very early on (e.g. after a few thousand miles) to get out any debris there from manufacture.

Also, I'm not sure if the manual states it but the filter should be changed along with the fluid.

Had mine changed at 15k. Then 60k. Now I have 135,000 hard miles. Still running strong! Last time I changed the oil was 8000 miles ago, everything is a-ok. I drive 30 miles a day city then 4-500 miles suburb/highway on the weekends.

I held off a bit longer than suggested. I just had it changed on my 11 Ralliart at 82k. It's soooo freakin expensive to change. $450 for oil and filter.

Exactly my point it's so expensive! Thank god I can replace myself cant imagine labor on top of it! Think I'm going to go every 20k miles between changes as my RA is also higher mileage one (110k if Im not mistaken)

holy crap. i'm surprised you havent done some damage on your trans as it is. $450 for an oil and filter is surprisingly high. I get my oem filters for about $50 on ebay and then the sst fluid you should check out www.dancaauto.com. They have the best prices in terms of fluid for 2 jugs and doing it yourself is easy.

As per the original question. Most SST users change the fluid every 20-25k miles. Anything more than that and you're risking changing a $12k transmission in order to save a few hundred dollars every year or so.

This is the guy on eBay I always go to for my filters. He's a Canadian supplier but the price of the filter I can live with the 2 week ship time.

This is from the Danca website
