'10 Lancer Ralliart....busted transmission
New to this forum. So, hello.
2 years ago I bought a 2010 Lancer Ralliart - I've kept up with the service schedule, and of course didn't get it much past the dealer warranty. The transmission service light came on one day and it immediately began skipping the even numbered gears. I had it taken to 2 transmission specialists in my area, both told me I need a new transmission. I can't afford to do that. I'm going to have it taken to the dealer as well but I assume they'll tell me what the other mechanics did.
I loved this car, thing is a monster (for my purposes anyway) - but there's no way I can afford a new trans for this car. I bought it used at a dealer and really have no clue how the previous owner treated it. Just broke 100k miles on it. Only work I had done to it was a replacement for a cracked intake manifold. If they tell me what I assume they will...what can I expect in terms of resale/trade in? Without a functional trans my hopes are not high.
Thanks for any input, folks.

Same thing happened to a coworker. Sent out the trans to SSP. Got it back. Slapped it on. 2k miles later did the same thing. He was pretty upset. SSP claims they're not at fault and did everything right. They did offer to redo it at no charge. He didn't feel like paying shipping (to and from) again, plus another removal/install and have the same thing happen again. He ended up finding a used trans with about 40k miles on it for $1500 (believe it or not) from a junkyard 2 states away. Car runs great again. He's happy.

From what I have read that sounds like a shift fork issue. Putting the wrong transmission fluid in can cause the epoxy on the shift fork to degrade and become loose. Kosmic will be able to fix that for a lot less than the cost of a new transmission.
