Difference between Ralliart years?

Hello,

So I was looking into buying a Ralliart but was not sure if there is a difference between years. I found a 2014 for $14,900 with 73,685 miles with standard seats and piano black trim, and then also found a 2010 for $11,950 with 60,350 miles with Recaro seats and full Rockford sound system. Both have the same multimedia display with rear view camera for backing up. The only other difference I see if that the 2014 has the piano black trim interior and the 2010 has that grey carbon fiber look. It seems to me the interior and miles is better on the 2010, so why would the 2014 be more? Is it really just cause a newer model or is their performance different? Are 2010 - 2015 models basically the same with everything besides the piano black trim and Recaro seats if they are in? Is there a reason I should choose a 2014 over a 2010 if the 2010 has less miles and Recaro seats? Thank you

The difference in price is the years. 2010 vs 2014 is a lot.

The 2010 that you mention is more equipped. They stopped selling the Recaro pkg after the 2011 model (if I remember correctly).

Looks like the 2014 model you mention is the base one. There was another one with HID headlights and Rockford sound system.

Anyway if that was my only choice right now I would go with the 2014. This assuming that body, powertrain and drivetrain on both are in great conditions.
Why?

1. Is newer
2. Has many of the bugs corrected that came on the earlier models
3. The transmission is different. The later one has less reported issues.

This is me because I give more weight to reliability. Pretty sure others will say go with the 2010 one because they like more the looks.

Thank you for your response! I want which ever would be more reliable and last the longest because I could just change out the seats and etc anyways. Any more opinions anyone?

also would you say that ralliarts can go over 200,000 miles without too many problems like having to get a new transmission, and bigger repairs. I also already have a car and no car payment so this would be a weekend car.

Just a heads up about the later RA models, if you are going to mod the RA then be sure you buy parts that have been tested and fit the newer years. For example when doing an Evo X FMIC swap there are many LICP's made for Evo X that won't fit the Newer RA's due to the the addition of fog lights. Little differences like this between the years can cause modding head aches. Good luck with your search/purchase

I was just planning to really just change out the seats if I purchased the 2014.

Over 100K miles yes.
Over 200K miles .... lets be realistic this isn't a corolla or civic.
I highly doubt it

If my 2015 goes to 100K without issues for me is a big win. I normally get rid of cars after that mark before it becomes a money pit.

I think a lot of the differences between 2010 and 2014 are cosmetic (wheels, interior, etc.). As SharkyPR mentioned though the 2014 will have newer revisions for software and parts. For example, I'm sure the transmission has newer firmware, and I believe they started using a new timing chain in 2011 or 2012 to help reduce stretching issues.

The Recaro seats are really nice (btw I think they were only available in 09-10 Ralliarts but not positive). I find them to be more comfortable than the regular seats but some people don't like them. I think they are tight for bigger people. Even if you didn't like them you could easily find someone with a 2015 evo to swap seats with and get some money on top of it (finding Recaros to swap into the 2014 would be more and a bit harder to find). The HID lights are probably nice to have too. I'd look at both interiors closely though as certain parts tend to wear easily (the Recaros do, and the center console lid and arm rest on the door insert seem to as well, at least with the older material).

Other things to look for would be overall condition of the body and maintenance. Both cars should have had the transmission fluid and filter replaced by now. In case you're not aware the ACD pumps also have a tendency to crap out due to corrosion. They extended the warranty (I believe it is 9 or 10 years or 100k miles), but I think based on time/mileage those two cars would have similar time remaining on that. So where the vehicles came from and how much corrosion they have underneath would be good to check as well.

Here in Canada the Recaro seats are available but only with the premium package for the years 09-14. The 2015 model discontinued the recaro seats not sure if its the same in the US.

The Evo had the Recaros through 2014 in the US but for whatever reason I'm pretty sure they stopped offering them as an option in the Ralliart way before that (as I said I think it was 2010 model year but I'm not positive). I think the only seat upgrade option for later year Ralliarts in the US was the regular seats with leather.

Hey,
we are thinking our Ralliart (2010, 70k miles, everything but the GPS).
I personally love the Recaro seats and would not want to miss them.
The car (so far) has always been serviced by Mitsubishi.

Just send me a PM or e-mail me and we can connect further.

Is this mentioned somewhere reputable or is it just speculation? I thought that all years used the same Getrag DCT470 (and we all use the same fluid and filters)?

As far as I know the trans is the same for all years minus the software updates.

There is not an official statement released but two things points out that it was revised.

1. Transmission casing changed. Two drain bolts vs Three (earlier versions)
2. Magically failures of the early models were reduced drastically
